Stockfish Film Festival aims to create a platform in Reykjavík to encourage collaboration between domestic and international film communities. International award winning directors and film professionals will be invited to speak at the festivals many conference events; celebrations, panels, Q&A sessions and master classes. We emphasize on networking between international and national film professionals. The festival will screen some of the most up-and-coming films in the world and invite international filmmakers to discuss the state of filmmaking, industry and community.

The festival is a collaboration between all of the film professional associations in Iceland. The main goal of the festival is to serve the community which is its foundation, encourage and enrich the film culture in Iceland all year round and support the film industry in Iceland locally and abroad. We work hard planning the Stockfish Film Festival in a professional and a democratic way through our Board of Directors which includes a members of the major film professional associations in Iceland.
Each year, the short film competition Shortfish is held by Stockfish Film Festival. 2017 is the third year of this soon to be traditional event. Five to six short films will be picked for screenings at the festival. The award ceremony will take place during the closing ceremony of the festival.
Reykjavík Film Festival Resurrected
The festival was founded in 2015, as a reincarnation of the Reykjavík Film Festival (Kvikmyndahátíð Reykjavíkur), which was established in 1978. It appeals to both people in the film industry and those who are interested in the wellbeing of international filmmaking. It is a nonprofit and is run closely in collaboration with Bíó Paradís.
The festival will offer you a wide range of lectures and workshops to support its goal of encourage collaboration between film professionals and those who are interested in film making in an international scale. The members of the associations that bring you Stockfish can get an Industry Pass at a discounted price through their associations.
