The films selected for Shortfish 2021!
The aim of the Shortfish short film competition is to draw attention to up and coming young filmmakers and encourage them to further their skills with a price that gives them an opportunity to keep working on further projects.
The winner of the Shortfish will receive one million Icelandic krona from Iceland’s most prominent film equipment rental Kukl. That will give a good jump start for the winning director for their next film.
Last year the rules were changed for the Shortfish competition, it was decided to allow all short films premiered in the previous year to enter instead of only films that had not been premiered in Iceland. This has allowed more variety and increased the number of entries. We also feel that this way we are giving young filmmakers more opportunity to showcase their work.
This year we received over 50 entries and all promising films. Therefore we have decided to increase the number of films in the finals for more people to be able to enjoy them in the cinema.
