Winner Announced In The Shortfish Competition
Last night was the final night of the Stockfish Film Festival in Bíó Paradís and the winner announced in the Shortfish film competition with an official award ceremony. Our members of the jury this year where Marina Richter journalist and renowned film critic, Tinna Hrafnsdóttir actress and director and Grímur Hákonarson writer and film director. All where in agreement that the films where particularly good quality this year and all the films had something special to offer which made it quite hard to come to a conclusion who should be the winner.
But they had to come to an agreement and decided to give one film special mention. That was the film Spaghetti by Egill Gauti Sigurjónsson and Nikulás Tumi Hlynsson. But the winner of Shortfish 2021 is Kitchen By Measure by Atli Arnarsson and Sólrún Ylfa Ingimarsdóttir.
Atli and Sólrún recieve a beautiful Shortfish artifact designed by Marsibil Kristjánsdóttir and Róbert Kristjánsson and 1.000.000 ISK from Kukl which will be great help in furthering their future film projects.
Statement of the Jury for Kitchen By Measure:
Catching the spirit of a classic has never been an easy task: sticking to the core of the narrative, and yet giving the film a special touch that will make it unique and memorable. Technically impeccable through the filigrane work on the tiniest details, nicely shot and framed, this is a work that also impresses by the subtext of the story – through humor and wit. The main Jury award goes to “Kitchen by Measure” directed by Atli Arnarsson and Sólrún Ylfa Ingimarsdóttir.
Special mention: Spaghetti
An unconventional thriller from the underbelly of Kópavogur City, full of life and joy and creative energy. The directors break nearly every cinematic rule although in a very neat way creating an unforgettable viewing experience. For this reason the Jury gives Special Mention to Spaghetti by Nikulás Tumi Hlynsson and Egill Gauti Sigurjónsson.
