Storm Alerts – Opening Film of Stockfish

Directed by Bergur Bernburg, the opening film of the Stockfish 2025 Film and Industry Festival is the Icelandic premiere of the movie. Storm Alerts is a dramatic documentary that examines the turbulent turning points in the life of a passionate scholar; a dramatic journey into the uncharted territories of the human mind. Marteinn Helgi Sigurðsson, who holds a doctorate in Old Norse from Cambridge University, must suddenly reassess his life when he is diagnosed with bipolar disorder. He must either confront his mental illness in a traditional way or find a new way to live with the new challenges on his own terms, with the weather changes that can be expected.

The screenplay of the film is written by Bergur Bernburg and Jón Atli Jónasson. The producers are Friðrik Þór Friðriksson, Magnús Árni Skúlason, Margrét Jónasdóttir, and Bergur Bernburg. Actors: Marteinn Helgi Sigurðsson, Kristján Ingimarsson, and Kurt Ravn. Music: Kjartan Dagur Holm and Sindri Már Sigfússon.

This year, entry to the festival will be free, but guests will be given the option to pay what they can if they are interested in supporting the festival.
