Born to Italian opera singers, Floria was named after the diva of Puccini’s Tosca. Her multidisciplinary work blends painterly aesthetics, surrealism and meticulously crafted worlds, earning her global recognition across music videos, photography, film, and advertising.
Floria’s audacious imagery and signature style have cemented her as one of the most acclaimed directors in music video history. She has created iconic videos for Rihanna, Björk, David Bowie,The White Stripes, and Christina Aguilera. Her 2023 video for Sam Smith and Kim Petras’s Unholy received five MTV VMA nominations, including Best Direction and Video of the Year, and won awards at the MTV EMAs, Junos, and the New York International Fashion Film Festival. Floria won MTV VMA Video of the Year for Justin Timberlake’s Mirrors (2013) and MTV EMA Video of the Year for Sigur Rós’s Untitled (2003).
Floria’s videos for David Bowie’s Little Wonder and Dead Man Walking hold permanent spots in New York’s Museum of Modern Art. In 2023, she received a CAMERIMAGE award for her contributions to music videos, followed by the 2024 UKMVA Icon Award for her outstanding influence on the genre.
In film, Floria wrote and directed the celebrated cult classic, The Runaways, starring Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning, and helmed The Turning, a supernatural horror feature produced by Steven Spielberg’s Amblin. Her television work includes directing episodes of The Handmaid’s Tale and American Gods.
As a photographer, Floria has published three monographs—Redemption, Immune, and Eat the Sun—featuring Hollywood and music luminaries. Her work has been exhibited internationally alongside Cindy Sherman, Rebecca Horn, Vanessa Beecroft, and Joel-Peter Witkin.
In advertising, Floria has collaborated with brands like Ferrari, Bulgari, Mugler, Meta, and Samsung. Her longstanding partnership with Gucci includes projects with former creative director Alessandro Michele. For The New York Times Magazine, she photographed and directed the celebrated “Great Performers: Horror Show” series, featuring Nicole Kidman, Daniel Kaluuya, and Timothée Chalamet, which won Gold and Silver at the ADC Awards and Gold at the SPD Awards.
