In the panel, the representatives of all professional associations in filmmaking in Iceland will come together, along with the director of the Icelandic Film Centre, Gísli Snær Erlingsson, for an open discussion about the state of Icelandic filmmaking. Icelandic filmmaking has been thriving in recent years, and the reputation of Icelandic films and television series has spread widely. Every króna the government invests in the film industry returns multiple times over, yet the industry is facing challenges due to cuts in contributions to the Film Fund. The tax rebate system for films and television series is relatively new in Iceland. What have we learned, and where is Icelandic filmmaking headed today? The panel is moderated by Marta Balaga.
Hilmar Sigurðsson from the Icelandic Producers Association will do a short presentation showing recent statistics from the industry, before the panel begins.
