In 1950s Mexico City, American immigrant William Lee, a heroin addict in his late forties, leads a solitary life within a small American community. His days are filled with isolation, with only fleeting interactions with fellow expatriates. Everything changes when he meets Eugene Allerton, a former soldier, whose presence awakens in him the hope of forming a genuine, intimate connection. As their relationship develops, William dares to believe that, for the first time, he might break free from his loneliness and establish a meaningful connection with somebody.
