ICELANDIC HONORARY GUEST: DÓRA EINARSDÓTTIR
Dóra Einars / Doris Day & Night has a 50-year career behind her in the world of film, theatre, opera, and ballet. She has participated in international marketing and advertising campaigns and made a name for herself as an artistic director, costume designer, producer, and director.
Dóra studied in Berlin, London, and New York as a set and costume designer and art history at Lund University.
She was part of the Icelandic film spring and fought for the rights of filmmakers from the very beginning. The Doris Day & Night clothing line emerged during the costume design process for the film Með allt á hreinu, where she worked day and night designing the costumes. Dóra has collaborated with many well-known artists in Iceland and abroad, including Mezzoforte, Grýlurnar, Stuðmenn, Bubbi Morthens, Egó, Jet Black Joe, Rickshaw, the Rolling Stones, Grace Jones, and Depeche Mode.
Dóra also worked for MTV Europe for many years as a Creative Director and Producer. There she, among other things, created a television program about the Icelandic music scene—something that had never been done before and undoubtedly contributed to its rise on the international stage.
Dóra has worked a wide range of jobs in the film industry and has fought for the advancement of the field from the beginning. Her contribution and legacy in filmmaking, both in Iceland and abroad, have few equals—and for that, she deserves honor and recognition.
