THE OPENING FILM OF THE FESTIVAL IS THE DANISH-ICELANDIC SCI-FI LOVE STORY ETERNAL

The opening title this year is the Danish SciFi drama Eternal, directed by Ulaa Salim. It follows Elias, a young climate scientist, who falls in love with an aspiring singer, Anita.

But when an opportunity arises for him to join a mission researching a dangerous climate change phenomenon – a mysterious fracture on the ocean floor – he chooses career over love.
Years later, during his mission, he experiences a vision of what his life could have been like if he made a different choice, and his new obsession becomes to get his old life and love back.
Director Ulaa Salim, and producers Daniel Mühlendorph and Grímar Jónsson will attend the premiere of Eternal and participate in discussions after the screening.

The deadline for submissions to the Stockfish Writers Lab is March 15. The lab is a space where writers can refine their skills, receive feedback, and connect with a community that shares their passion for storytelling. The SFIF Writers Lab also plays a crucial role in the development and success of Icelandic writers by providing a supportive environment for learning, growth, collaboration, and networking. Our major initiative is to invite writers who are experienced but who need their craft nurtured and work through their market-ready screenplays to pitch them to the industry.
