Coca Dulce, Tabaco Frio
Director: Þórbjörg Jónsdóttir / Thorbjorg Jonsdottir
Producer: Hanna Björk Valsdóttir
Length: approx 80 min
Country: Iceland & Switzerland
Coca Dulce Tabaco Frío er sjálfstætt framhald myndar leikstjórans A Tree is Like a Man (2019) sem fjallar um shamaninn Don William og samband hans við plöntulyfið ayahuasca.
English:
The film is structured as a river that constantly flows on, moving effortlessly between the macro and the micro, sky, earth and water, through the veil that separates our reality from the reality of the spirits. It begins with images of the coca plant. The plant speaks to the audience through voice-over, addressing the human race as a whole. We are then introduced to Don William, an indigenous shaman who is the main human character, who leads us through the film and gives us the human perspective.
The film will weave a tapestry of legends and mythologies with stories of everyday life of the indigenous people living in the Amazon today. Through the words of different people in the indigenous community the audience will learn how these plants are important to their lives and how they continue to impact them in different ways. We hear stories of people who have been displaced because of the civil war that raged in Colombia for decades. Along with stories and myths the film depicts current day-to-day lives of indigenous people in the Amazon; complete with commodities such as smartphones and mass-produced clothing meanwhile respecting their history and their spiritual ancestors and keeping them always present in their lives.
The film stays in the jungle, always bringing its focus back to the plant, its voice, its power and its beauty. Inherent in the life of the indigenous population is protecting the environment; how they traditionally live is a sustainable way of co-existing with the natural world around them. This is a part of what is so important about protecting the indigenous way of life, as protecting indigenous knowledge and their way of living is a way to protect the environment.

Country: Iceland
When filmmaker Bjarney Lúðvíksdóttir’s father learns he has only a short time left to live, he grants her permission to document his final project — a task he had poured his heart into for years. Determined to finish what he started, Bjarney follows her father on his last emotional journey to Hornstrandir, a remote and rugged landscape tied to their family’s roots. As she captures his final days and their heartfelt farewell, she intertwines his carefully preserved recordings of her grandmother’s childhood in the region. The result is a deeply personal documentary that blends past and present, honoring her father’s devotion to preserving history and the legacy of the place he loved most. Through this intimate lens, Bjarney crafts a moving portrait of love, loss, and the enduring power of storytelling — a final gift to her father and a lasting tribute to her family’s connection to Hornstrandir.
Bjarney Lúðvíksdóttir is an Icelandic director and producer known for her powerful and heartfelt documentaries. She made her debut with Seeing the Unseen (2019), an intimate exploration of 17 Icelandic women living with autism, which aired on RÚV in 2020 and became one of the year’s most-watched films.
In 2021, RÚV premiered her second documentary, How the Titanic Became My Lifeboat, sharing the inspiring story of Brynjar Karl, whose fascination with the Titanic helped him navigate life with autism and find independence.
Her latest project, Acting Normal with CVI, premiered September 2024, follows Dagbjört, a woman with Cerebral Visual Impairment, as she pursues her dreams despite living with limited vision.
Bringing this project to life is both a personal journey and a carefully crafted production, blending creative storytelling with sustainable practices. Many scenes feature iPhone footage and audio, capturing raw, unfiltered moments in their purest form. My aim is to create a documentary that resonates with audiences while positioning it for long-term success across multiple platforms.
The film is rooted in real-life moments, filmed in remote locations like Hornstrandir, and reflects the final days of the filmmaker’s father. Bjarney, who writes and narrates Eyja’s youth, adds a personal touch to the story. The actors portraying Eyja’s youth are close friends and family, with deep ties to Hornstrandir and its people.
Our financing strategy has relied on volunteer work, private investment, and grants, with the goal of presenting the story to Icelandic broadcasters like RÚV or finding a fitting VOD platform.
Eyja is about preserving history, not commercial success. The film honors the past and safeguards memories that shape our identity. Hornstrandir’s rugged landscapes and abandoned villages echo a vanishing way of life. Through one family’s journey, Eyja pays tribute to that past.
The project wasn’t driven by profit but by purpose — to document resilience, love, and a deep connection to nature. We worked closely with local communities and historians to respect Hornstrandir’s legacy. Eyja is a love letter to history and a call to honor those who came before us.

A mountain is demolished, coal dug up, soil dried, water reserve emptied, land is drowned, a bird falls, a sheep inhales sulfur, land trembles, carbon dioxide is released, crude oil drives forward, ship collides with a whale, and a robot extends its arms. A woman travels across the world’s seven seas and the landmasses they connect to trace a global manufacturing and supply process that transforms earth’s elements and nature’s resources into pure silicon for solar batteries and semiconductor technology of our times.
From sand and coal extraction, through monoculture plantations, to Arctic smelters powered by cheap electricity generated by geothermal plants, and finally to robotic fabrications on the other side of the world, a woman confronts an entanglement of green and non-green energies and methods shaping the world today. On a geopolitical journey a hidden reality is uncovered that is transforming the Earth into the technological solutions of today.

English:
Steindór Andersen, Iceland’s foremost kvæðamaður (traditional poet-singer), is dying. He brought kveðskapur (traditional Icelandic poetry) back into the spotlight through his collaboration with Sigurrós and has profoundly influenced today’s practitioners of the art. Steindór guides the film into the world of kveðskapur, where we meet those who keep the tradition alive, composing in the same metrical rules as Egill Skalla-Grímsson and singing the tones of the past. But as Steindór is waiting for death, questions arise: What will live on, and what will die with him? Kveðskapur is a living art form, performed for mutual entertainment. This vitality is at the heart of our journey as we get to know its practitioners through intimate vignettes scenes that capture the complex emotions of kveðskapur—joy and sorrow, humor and gravity. Is this tradition fading, or does passion still exist to carry this ancient art into the future?

Director: Óttar Þorbergsson
Producer: Lina Maria Bullwinkel
Lenght: 15 min
Country: Iceland & Germany
In this introspective journey through Iceland’s breathtaking landscape,
a young woman discovers not only the beauty of nature but also the depths of her own soul.
In search of meaning and identity, our protagonist finds a mysterious book titled „Týnd Sál“ in her solitary Airbnb. It contains
handwritten notes and a map with ten marked locations. Driven by curiosity and a desire for change, she decides to follow these traces.
Each location reveals a new facet of the unknown writer – and simultaneously reflects the inner struggles of our heroine. From the lush
greens of a vibrant meadow to the endless blue of the horizon, from the consuming power of fire to the gentle silence of rain – each stop
becomes a metaphor for her emotional journey.
As she delves deeper into the writer’s story, a tragic love story unfolds. The initial descriptions of Icelandic beauty gradually give way to
accounts of loss, grief, and a desperate search for healing. In this tension between Iceland’s overwhelming nature and the intimate
narrative of the unknown, our protagonist begins to confront her own fears and insecurities. She realizes that her trip to Iceland is more
than just an adventure holiday –
it’s a journey to herself.
She reaches the emotional climax at the penultimate location, where she experiences the full extent of the writer’s loss and
simultaneously breaks through her own life crisis. Upon arriving at the final point, a surprising message awaits her that will change her
life forever.
„Týnd Sál“ is a visual ode to the healing power of nature and the transformative power of self-reflection. It’s a story about loss, love, and
the courage to take one’s own destiny into one’s hands. In Iceland’s raw beauty, our heroine finds not only the lost soul of the unknown
writer but also the path to herself.
This cinematic journey promises to enchant the audience with breathtaking images while deeply touching them, raising universal
questions about identity and the meaning of life.

English:
The film begins from the perspective of a home video camera, with Valdís’ parents filming her and her brother at their family cabin. The video ends with the children running off to play hide-and-seek in the surrounding forest.
A decade later, Valdís’ group of friends decides to reunite at her cabin. Valdís brings her family’s old video camera to capture the reunion.
The audience is shown brief, unsettling glimpses of a strange creature stalking the group, dressed in a fox mask and moving like an animal. As old wounds and secrets surface, the group begins to fall apart, while the creature draws closer, searching for an old friend.
When one of the group is murdered, and Valdís discovers the killer is her missing brother, each member must decide who they are willing to leave behind and whom they can truly trust.
M. Loki is graduating from the Icelandic University of the Arts this spring with a BA in filmmaking, and with a focus on screenwriting. The aim with his stories has always been to move the audience in one way or another, and the mixing of different emotions and is always the core to his stories. Striving to be able to make an audience laugh, cry and be terrified in the same movie is what fuels Loki’s filmmaking career.
Loki’s directing style is very grounded, subtle and authentic. Using long takes and delicate acting is his main way of drawing his audience into a story. Letting the audience discover the story and get time to read into each facial expression, is a key part of Loki’s storytelling, but mixing this with intense, fast-moving sequences is ultimately what distinguishes Confidant, his first feature film.
M. Loki is graduating from the Icelandic University of the Arts this spring with a BA in filmmaking. He strives to break the boundaries of film production and create his own path for unconventional storytelling, with the aim being to make films that feel fresh, real, and pungent; while not having to rely on the traditional production format. Through his career and education, Loki has gathered experience producing ambitious short films and music videos with low-to-zero-budgets, that include interior viking bloodbaths, bar-fights, cranes and car rigs, and animal handling for a lamb. Most of this has been made possible through the mindset of only using what you have access to, and for Loki that includes a vast group of diverse and highly talented colleagues, schoolmates, and friendships. Confidant is Loki’s first attempt to take that same mindset and use it to make a feature film.
